Our range of cheeses has expanded since we began in 2007 from just 3, to 8 award-winning hand-made cheeses of which we’re really proud. Our cheese have been recognised by many of the major cheese and food associations, not least our creamy Shropshire Blue Cheese won a Heart of England Diamond Award and a Silver National Cheese Award this year – thank you to all our customers and sellers for helping us to achieve this recognition.
Shropshire Blue
A rich and creamy russet-coloured cheese with blue veining and a natural rind. Our hand-made Shropshire Blue is one of our most popular cheeses – great on a cheese-board or to be used in cooking.
Winner of Heart of England Diamond Award and a Silver National Cheese Award in 2011.
Marches Blue
This recipe has taken a long time to master but we have finally got a balance between the creaminess and the blue flavour. Named from the Welsh Marches Region, this semi hard blue cheese has an edible rind and is lightly veined with a creamy texture when mature. Marches Blue is not pressed and is hand salted and pierced 12 times over 2 weeks.
Winner of a Diamond award at the HEFF Diamond awards and a highly commended at the Nantwich International cheese show 2008. A Gold award at Royal Bath and West 2009.
Shropshire Red
A rich, russet-red cheese with a smooth texture similar to a Red Leicester but with more bite. Our red cheese is coloured with natural Annatto berry extract.
Winner of Bronze awards at Nantwich 2008.
Tanatside
Tanatside is one of our classic favourites. It has a similar taste to Wensleydale cheese with a dry but slightly crumbly texture and tangy taste. Perfect with a sweet chutney or in chunky doorstop sandwiches, or crumbled over a tossed salad.
Smoked Tanatside
We cut our Tanatside cheese into 3 inch tall rounds and take them to Chirk Trout Farm approximately 15 miles away, where Richard Simpson carefully cold smokes the cheese for three days. This leaves a good balance of cheese and smoked flavours. If you need more of a kick we challenge you to eat the rind! A quirky addition to any cheeseboard – even cynics love it!
Winner of Silver at World Cheese Awards in 2008.
Tanatside with Cranberries
As the name suggests, we have added sweet and delicious cranberries to our tangy Tanatside – a mouthful bursting with flavour.
Tanatside with Apricots
A lovely blend of tangy Tanatside cheese with tarty tasting apricots which really tickles the tastebuds.
Abertanat Cheddar
You can’t beat a traditional hand-made Cheddar. Our recipe is matured in the cloth for a fuller flavour. An essential ingredient to any fridge!
